Glass Countertops Palm Beach FL
Classy Glass Countertops
You’d never know by looking at an Urbanslabs countertop that it’s made from recycled glass. And that’s part of its appeal. Consisting of 60 percent recycled post-consumer glass from containers such as beer, wine and liquor bottles, Urbanslabs countertops, from Santa Ana, Calif.-based Eco Surfaces Manufacturing, are among the latest green products designed to appeal to homeowners seeking sustainable options when building or remodeling their homes.
To create Urbanslabs countertops, recycled bottles are finely ground and combined with a specially developed cement mixture (no resins are used), then cured over time using an energy-efficient process. The result is a lightweight slab three-quarters of an inch thick, which makes it easy to handle. The slabs are then polished to expose the recycled glass and sealed to ensure stain, scratch and fade resistance.
The slabs can be cut like granite for use as countertops as well as bathroom vanities, shower panels, floor tiles, backsplash tiles, bookshelves, wall clad panels and other surface applications. Fifteen stock colors are available, or the slabs can be ordered in custom colors and sizes.
The installed cost is around $74 per square foot, which is more expensive than granite (about $48 to $55 per square foot) but significantly less than poured-in-place or pre-cast concrete countertops, which cost around $175 per square foot. For more information: 714-954-0161 or www.urbanslabs.com .
